Saddles & Seat Posts
Saddles – choosing the right saddle can be a long hard job. There are many choices or designs on the market to help alleviate pressure points and help power transfer. Saddles are gender specific and many saddles now come with a comprehensive fitting guide to help you choose. Saddles are not necessarily discipline specific but are certainly individual specific.
Seatposts – Seatposts are used to support the saddle and to enable you to adjust the saddle height to your specific requirements. Seatposts also vary in angle to give you a different a different position over the cranks. If you are unsure of whether you need this or not. It may be worth going to a bike fitter for advice. Some seatposts now also offer a dropper seatpost. This is commonly used in mountain biking when the saddle is required to be at a set height for climbing but when descending you need to drop the post to allow the rider to get further back over the saddle for a better handling experience. Depending on the brand and material you chose can also affect how the vibrations are transferred through the bike.
