Rather than creating a standard insulated windproof jacket, Castelli have engineered their Elemento Lite Jacket with synthetic down, making the textile layers slightly air-permeable for excellent breathability.
Similar to an insulated alpine shell, the jacket is constructed using layer of insulation which is placed between a woven, inner and outer layer. Unlike with most mountain jackets, the woven shell isn’t completely windproof, but instead allows for a small amount of air-permeability. This air is used to remove sweat and moisture from the jacket and, evaporate it more efficiently than any membrane fabric available. The puffy middle layer, made with polypropylene, is not only incredibly light but, does not retain moisture from either sweat or rain.
With less stretch, Castelli have created a new cut, slightly looser than your race jacket. Rather than all-out speed sessions, the cut compliments longer, winter base-mile rides.
Always read the care label before washing a piece of clothing.
